University Park, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto softball team saw freshman McKenna Sas (Canyon County, Calif. / Canyon County) claim PSUAC Hitter of the Week recognition as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Sas had not only a breakout performance but was near historic this last weekend for Penn State Mont Alto finishing with two doubles a home run and 11 RBIs. She led her team to four-straight victories over Penn State Fayette as the freshman outfielder is now slugging a conference leading .625.
Mont Alto is off to a blazing start to its season, it's the best start in program history for Coach Newell during his tenure with the team. The Nittany Lions are off to a 7-1 overall start and are 6-0 in the PSUAC West. They take on Penn State Beaver this afternoon and evening in a pivotal doubleheader.
