Seven softball players honored by USCAA

During the Small College World Series home run derby, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced its end of season awards. Penn State Mont Alto's McKenna Sas was named a first team All-American. Destiny Hall, Brooklyn Miller and Kirsten Dell joined Sas as honorable mentions.

FIRST TEAM

McKenna Sas had a standout year from the plate for Penn State Mont Alto this season. In 90 at-bats, Sas tied for second in the nation with nine home runs. On the season, she batted .422 with nine home runs and 33 runs batted in. Sas was recently named co-player of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference. She was also named an USCAA All-American following the 2021 season. During the April 15-16 weekend road trip, she homered four times in three games.

 

HONORABLE MENTION

Destiny Hall had the third highest batting average on the season (.419) to go along with four home runs and 27 runs batted in. In the field, she converted on 110 of her 126 fielding attempts. 

 

Brooklyn Miller compiled a .406 batting average with 18 runs batted in and two stolen bases. She played third base for Penn State Mont Alto, ending the season with a .937 fielding percentage.

 

At the plate, Kirsten Dell batted a team-high .430 average with one home run and 17 runs batted in. In the circle, she pitched 64.2 innings for Penn State Mont Alto. On the year, Dell compiled a 4-3 record with a 5.63 earned run average and 37 strikeouts.

 

ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN

Haley Dawson, Kirsten Dell, Riley Fitzgerald and MacKenzie Stake were all recognized as academic All-Americans by the USCAA. All four softball players have cumulative GPA's above 3.50 and have completed 24+ credits of coursework.
