Mont Alto drops two to Dickinson

Game One: Dickinson 5, Penn State Mont Alto 2

Riley Kuehn struck out ten Mont Alto batters in a complete game win and Delaney Glazer struck out six in seven innings during game one of the non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. 

 

Dickinson got on the board early in the top half of the first inning on a Mont Alto error following a fly out to left field. The Red Devils plated two more runs in the following inning capped off by a Devon Kueny RBI single and a Eden Blanker hit by pitch to go up 3-0.

 

Two more insurance runs were scored by the Red Devils in the sixth inning following three scoreless innings by both teams. Laila Gwathmey plated Jen Klefner who recorded a single earlier in the inning on a triple to right field. Devon Kueny recorded her third hit of the game on an RBI single on the very next at bat as the Red Devils led 5-0 following five and a half innings. 

 

Mont Alto would battle back in the bottom of the seventh inning as Dani-Lynn Barklow doubled to center field, scoring Rachel Alleman and trimming the deficit to 5-2. Following the double, Mont Alto went 1,2,3 to end the inning and lose game one by a final of 5-2.

Game Two: Dickinson 20, Penn State Mont Alto 1 (F/5)

Dickinson used a 10 run first inning to help earn a doubleheader sweep of the Nittany Lions, recording 19 runs in a 20-1 five inning win in game two. Nine different Red Devils recorded a hit in the winning effort.

 

Paige Hahn cleared the bases on her single to left field and one run scored via a Mont Alto miscue. Two batters later, Zoe Kleeblatt plated two runs on her single to center field to push the lead to 5-0. Lindsey Kucker and Jane Lloyd both recorded RBI doubles and Eden Blanker capped off the top of the first with a two RBI home run to center field to give Dickinson its ninth and tenth runs of the inning. Mont Alto pushed one run across in the home half of the inning on a Destiny Hall single which scored Delaney Glazer.

 

The Red Devils added three runs in the next inning, highlighted by a Zoe Kleeblatt double to push the lead to 13-1. Kleeblatt would record a RBI single in the third inning to record her third hit in as many innings. Dickinson added three runs in each the fourth and fifth innings to win by a final score of 20-1 in five innings.
