Game One: Mont Alto 7, New Kensington 4

Penn State Mont Alto softball hosted Penn State New Kensington for a double header Tuesday. A close first game ends up going Mont Alto's way as they win 7-4 over New Kensington.

In the bottom of the second, a double from Cammble Sterner would allow one run to score. Then a single from Alyssa Wiles would allow one more run to score in the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, Paige Loudenslager would single up the middle and allow one run to score. A wild pitch would then allow one more run to score. Rachel Alleman would then hit a two-run homerun and Mont Alto would lead 6-0.

In the top of the fifth, back-to-back homeruns from Piper Zufall and Linda Shepard would cut Mont Alto's lead to 6-2.

In the bottom of the sixth, a sacrifice fly from Hailey Spielman would let one run come across.

In the top of the seventh, a single from Brookelyn Kotch would score two runs and Mont Alto would hang on and win 7-4 over New Kensington.

Game Two: New Kensington 14, Mont Alto 9

Penn State Mont Alto softball hosted Penn State New Kensington for a double header Tuesday. A back-and-forth game ends up going New Kensington's way as they win 14-9 over Mont Alto.   

In the top of the first inning, a sacrifice fly from Waldrop would allow one run to score on the play. In the bottom of the first, a three RBI double from Spielman would give Mont Alto the 3-1 lead early on. In the top of the second, a single from Moore would let one run score. Then in the top of the third, Shepard would hit a two-run homerun and New Kensington would take the lead 4-3.

A single from Wiles in the bottom of the fourth would allow one run to score. Then in the bottom of the fifth, a three-RBI triple from Allison would give Mont Alto the 7-4 lead. A double from Cunningham would then score one more run in the fifth.

A single from Ferriola would let one run score, then an error would allow one run to score. Ferriola would then steal home, and this would cut Mont Alto's lead to 8-6.

In the bottom of the sixth, Rachel Alleman would hit a solo homerun and extend Mont Alto's lead to 9-6.

In the top of the seventh, a single from Moore would allow one run to score, then a walk would allow another run to come across. Then a sacrifice fly from Patterson would tie the game at 9-9. A single from Waldrop would allow two runs to come across, then another single from Shepard would allow two more runs to score and New Kensington would win 14-9 over Mont Alto.
