MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto women's basketball team hosted Penn State Beaver this evening in a PSUAC contest from the Multipurpose Activities Center. Mont Alto was unable to overcome 31 turnovers with PSU Beaver pulling away in the second half for the 89-64 win.

Inside the Box Score

  • Mariah Martin (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) had a solid evening in the post finishing with a team-high 16 points to go along with nine rebounds. The freshman forward shot 50 percent from the floor and earned five offensive boards.
  • Madison Bishop (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) recorded her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds in 28 minutes.
  • Penn State Beaver finished with all five starters scoring in double figures with Diamond Thomas pacing the squad with 18 points.
  • Kyah Rucker (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) finished with 12 points and six boards.

How it Happened

  • Penn State Beaver opened the game on an 18-6 run that was temporarily slowed down by a transition 3-pointer from Kyah Rucker (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township). PSU Beaver took a 14-point lead into the second quarter at 24-10.
  • A pair of key 3-pointers from Rucker and Karley Coleman (Hanover, Pa. / Delone Catholic) kept Mont Alto close in the second quarter, but Penn State Beaver took a 44-29 lead into the halftime break.
  • Julianne Noveras (Gaithersburg, Md. / Gaithersburg,) got the crowd back into the game with a trey and on the ensuing possession Beaver turned the ball over, which led to a Mariah Martin (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) layup, which cut the deficit to eight at 44-36 with 7:23 left in the quarter.
  • However, Beaver closed the quarter on a 11-6 run and that same string of points continued into the fourth with the visitors building their largest lead of the game at 78-48. Mont Alto would fight hard to close the game for its final of 89-64.

Mont Alto (1-7 0-4 PSUAC) will have the next week before returning to action on Saturday, December 15 in a road matchup with Penn State Fayette. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
