MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) released their weekly Player of the Week awards on Tuesday and Mont Alto women's basketball player Mariah Martin (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) earned the honor for the first time in her collegiate career.

Martin recorded a double-double, her second of the season, during Tuesday's close 66-62 loss to Penn State Beaver. She coupled 18 points and 14 rebounds as her team went on a 23-4 run over the final nine minutes, but fell just short of the comeback. In her very next performance, the freshman forward finished one board shy of another double-double against Schuylkill where she paced Mont Alto with 17 points.

On Saturday, Martin was once again solid in the post with 15 points as her team stormed back for a 62-58 fourth quarter come from behind win over Hazleton. For the season, she is averaging a team-high 11.8 points per game and her 6.6 rebounds per game ranks 19th in the conference.

The women's basketball team return to action this evening when it hosts Penn State Fayette in a pivotal conference matchup at 6 p.m.
