Vandersleen scores double-digits in loss to Fayette

Penn State Fayette 64, Penn State Mont Alto 35

Sarah Vandersleen scored a team-leading ten points off the bench on Saturday in 17 minutes of action as Penn State Mont Alto dropped a PSUAC contest to Penn State Fayette 64-35.

 

How It Happened

Penn State Fayette jolted out to an early 7-0 advantage before Kyah Rucker put Penn State Mont Alto on the scoreboard with her two point basket four minutes in. Vandersleen came into the contest and provided a quick spark as she scored two consecutive baskets to cut the Fayette lead to one at 9-8 with a minute remaining in the first quarter. Lilianna Galloway made a basket with 20 seconds in the quarter as Mont Alto trailed 13-10 after one quarter. 

 

Penn State Fayette shot 8 of 17 (47%) from the field in the second quarter behind 13 points from Taylor McCormick as they led 34-21 at the half. Shanez Morales played the entire second quarter and added eight points for Mont Alto.

 

McCormick would continue her strong game into the third quarter as she scored 7 of her game-leading 32 points in the third. Penn State Mont Alto only mustered six points in the quarter as they shot 15.4% (2 for 13).

 

Galloway and Vandersleen provided the offensive output for Mont Alto in the fourth quarter as they each provided four points. McCormick added six in the final frame and Takiah Cheathon scored four for Fayette as they went on to defeat Mont Alto 64-35.
