Salyers records double-double in conference loss to Penn State York

Penn State York 63, Penn State Mont Alto 41

 

Penn State Mont Alto returned to conference action for the first time in nearly a month, losing to Penn State York 63-41 on Friday evening. Colette Salyers paced Mont Alto with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in the losing effort. Brooklyn Merryman and Autumn Fischer each scored eight points while Meagan Smith had seven off the bench in 18 minutes.

 

Penn State York got out to an early 18-7 lead behind 7 of 18 shooting with Desii Garcia-Hernandez scoring a team-high eight points. Mont Alto started the first quarter with 2 of 13 shooting while committing 11 turnovers.

 

Meagan Smith provided a spark off the bench in the second quarter for Mont Alto, scoring five points in four minutes of action. Jordyn Foster scored six of Penn State York's 16 points in the second. Penn State York took a 33-17 lead into the locker room at halftime. 

 

Penn State Mont Alto hung tough in the second half, losing the second half by a margin of six 30-24. Salyers was a leading scorer for Penn State Mont Alto in the second half with ten points on 4 of 11 shooting. Jayla Brown scored 12 second half points for Penn State York on 4 of 12 shooting. 

 

Penn State York led by as much as 25 points during Friday's contest, scoring 31 points off 39 Penn State Mont Alto turnovers.
