DALLAS, Pa - The women's basketball team traveled to Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Saturday afternoon for some PSUAC action. Dariana Perez and Kaleigh Hartman each paced Mont Alto with a team-leading 17 points. Shanez Morales scored 14 and Autumn Fischer scored 13 as Mont Alto defeated Wilkes-Barre 64-43 to win their second straight game. The Mont Alto defense was able to hold each Wilkes-Barre under five points and the team to a 26% shooting percentage in the game. Perez finished the game with a triple double, tallying 17 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Mont Alto raced out to an early 8-0 advantage and held Wilkes-Barre scoreless until 3:16 in the first quarter when Aysia Pink made a three pointer.
  • Wilkes-Barre later tied the game at 8-8... Autumn Fischer converted on a layup to push the lead to two and Pink made another three as Wilkes-Barre led 11-10 after one quarter.
  • Dariana Perez made a layup with just under five minutes in the second quarter, Mont Alto finished off a 12-0 run and took a 22-11 lead. 
  • Wilkes-Barre trimmed the deficit and Kaleigh Hartman extended the lead back to ten with a late three pointer. Mont Alto led 29-19 at the break. 
  • A Shanez Morales layup with 5:55 left in the third quarter finished off a 14-0 run for Mont Alto, as they took a commanding 43-19 advantage.
  • Wilkes-Barre was unable to comeback on Mont Alto as the fourth quarter was tied 17-17. Mont Alto defeated Wilkes-Barre 64-43.
