Wrestlers Finish 7th at NCWA Mideast Conference Qualifier

Trenton, N.J. - The Penn State Mont Alto wrestling team finished seventh at the NCWA Mideast Conference Championships on Saturday at the Rivera Middle School in Trenton, N.J. As a team, the Lions finished within the middle of the pack, earning enough points to finish seventh out of 25 teams in competition.

Clay Kocsis became a three-time NCWA Mideast Champion and four-time National Qualifier as he won the 174-pound weight class. Kocsis also was named Outstanding Wrestler of the respective weight class.

Jake Sechrist became a two-time National Qualifer with a fourth-place finish in the 125-pound weight class.

Rounding up the National Qualifers for the Lions was Brandon Jackson (141-pound weight class), Jared Adam (174-pound weight class) and Grant Shughart (157-pound weight class).

The Penn State Mont Alto wrestling team now will shift their focus to the NCWA Championships that will be held in Allen, TX between March 9 - 11.
