Kocsis Finishes Second At NCWA National Championships

Allen, TX – Penn State Mont Alto wrestling senior Clay Kocsis capped off a stellar season with a second-place finish in the 174-pound weight class at the NCWA National Championships.

Kocsis, seeded No. 2 in the championships, won four matches and advanced to Saturday afternoon's National Championship match. In the finals he squared off with No. 1 seed Josh Ferenczy from Liberty University. In a highly contest battle, Ferenczy claimed the title with a 6-2 victory.

Kocsis finished the season with a 29-1 overall record. His second place finish made him a two-time NCWA Championship runner-up as he was also a four-time NCWA National Qualifier, three-time All-American and concludes his colligate career with a 123-11 overall record.

The five members of the Penn State Mont wrestling team that competed at the NWCA National Championship finished in 36th place out of the 99 teams that had wrestlers competing at the competition held in Allen, TX. Kocsis, Jake Sechrist, Brandon Jackson, Grant Shughart and Jared Adam combined for 19.5 team points with Emmanuel College claiming first-place overall with 233.5 points.
