Mont Alto records non-conference shutout

Penn State Mont Alto defeated Johnson & Wales (NC) on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 3-0 on Senior Day in which Penn State Mont Alto honored four seniors and graduates (Zoe Zentz, Lacey Daum, Grace Banfe and Yvanna Ruano).

 

Avery Diehl started the scoring in the very first minute of competition Saturday by taking a Lacey Daum pass and found the back of the net for the very early 1-0 advantage. Right after halftime, Madison Eberly dribbed in and scored in the first minute following halftime to put Mont Alto up 2-0.

 

In the 73rd minute, Lilianna Galloway converted on an assist from Nicole Jones to push the Mont Alto lead to three. Kiaya Mouer was up with numerous timely saves for Mont Alto as she stopped all seven of her shots faced to preserve the shutout. 

 

Nicole Jones (5) and Avery Diehl (4) combined for nine of the 15 shot attempts for Mont Alto to lead the offensive efforts. Lauren Burch was the leading shot taker for Johnson & Wales as she attemped five shots for the Wildcats.
