Women's soccer shutout in non-conference season opener

Hagerstown Community College 3, Penn State Mont Alto 0

 

The 2023 Penn State Mont Alto women's soccer team started their regular season on Friday afternoon with a road non-conference contest against Hagerstown Community College. The Hawks got the best of Mont Alto, recording three first half goals. The second half featured no scoring as Mont Alto fell to 0-1 on the season following a 3-0 loss.

 

Kaden Martin got the scoring started for HCC with a goal in the 23rd minute on an assisted pass from teammate Arial Crawford. She later padded the lead with a goal in the 36th minute of the opening half, Kayda Shives assisted on the second goal.

 

Shives connected on another pass from Crawford minutes before halftime to up the lead to three. 

 

Madison Ellis stopped all five shots on goal faced for HCC, shutting out Mont Alto on the day. First Year Grace Lochner led Mont Alto in shots with two on goal. Madison Eberly, Rachel Merrill and Sophie Bowersox also recorded shots on goal. 

 

Kiaya Mouer faced 14 shots on goal, recording eleven saves.
