Mont Alto records third consecutive shutout with 2-0 defeat of Brandywine

Penn State Mont Alto 2, Penn State Brandywine 0

Penn State Mont Alto women's soccer traveled to Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday afternoon in a rematch of last season's PSUAC soccer championship. Mont Alto once again shut out Brandywine, winning this time by a final of 2-0. Two first half tallies were the difference in the contest.

In the game's 33rd minute, Nicole Jones fed a pass through the Brandywine defense, finding Grace Lochner on the other side. Lochner dribbled past keeper Demarste Dorvilma for a 1-0 advantage. With a minute left before the half, Madison Eberly fed a cross through the goal mouth finding Alexis Mariano as she found the net for a key insurance goal in the first half. Mont Alto would take a 2-0 advantage into the break.

Both teams played a very strong defensive half as Mont Alto held a 2-1 advantage in SOG during the final 45 minutes of play. The Mont Alto defense and goalkeeper Kiaya Mouer came up big once again, keeping Mouer clean in the scoresheet as she stopped her only shot on goal faced.

Mariano led Mont Alto with two shots on goal and Eberly, Lochner and Avery Diehl recorded the others in the winning effort.

Up Next: Mont Alto will take on Penn State Schuylkill in PSUAC action on the road Saturday at noon.
