Mont Alto clinches regular season title, defeats Brandywine 1-0

Penn State Mont Alto 1, Penn State Brandywine 0

After several scoring chances in the first half of a battle between the top two teams in the PSUAC, Grace Lochner capitalized on her chance early in the second half as Mont Alto defeated Brandywine 1-0 on senior day. With the win, Mont Alto improved to 12-3-1 overall and 10-0 in the PSUAC. Mont Alto clinched the PSUAC regular season title and the top spot in the PSUAC playoffs, which begin Saturday. Mont Alto will host 4th seed Hazleton on Saturday at 1:30pm.

Mont Alto was shut out in the first half of Saturday's contest despite several scoring chances. Madison Eberly had three consecutive scoring chances, all turned away from Brandywine keeper Demareste Dorvilma. The score remained tied at 0-0.

In the 53rd minute, Mont Alto's Grace Lochner took two dribbles from a centering pass and found the back of the net for her 13th goal on the season. That goal would be all Mont Alto needed as the defense played well once again, and Kiaya Mouer stopped all five shot attempts faced to preserve the shutout.

Eberly led Mont Alto with six shots on goal and Lochner was second on the team with two.
