Volleyball sweeps Shenango behind Vaughn's 14 kills

Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State Shenango 0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-11)

 

Penn State Mont Alto remained perfect during conference play following a Sunday sweep of Penn State Shenango. The win pushes Penn State Mont Alto to the top of the PSUAC standings with a 3-0 record.

 

Gracie Vaughn recorded a team-high 14 kills on 25 total attack attempts. Vaughn also had a block assist on the afternoon. Kylee Gooding (6) and Caroline Blickley (5) paced the offense with Vaughn to combine for 25 of the team's 31 kills. Kylie Denlinger provided 23 of the team's 27 assists. Denlinger also led the team with four service aces. On the defensive end, Brooke Denlinger led the Nittany Lions with a team-leading 18 digs. Kylie Denlinger and Kylee Gooding also registered double-digits digs with ten each on the afternoon.

 

Emily Filicky accounted for six of Penn State Shenango's 15 kills on Sunday. Jill Dunleavy (4) and Emily Bortnick (3) were the other top offensive players for Penn State Shenango. Bortnick led the team with ten assists. Dunleavy was the team leader in digs with ten while three other Shenango players each provided seven digs.
