Mont Alto splits tri-match

Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State DuBois 0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-18)

 

Mont Alto controlled all three sets against PSUAC opponent Penn State DuBois on Saturday afternoon, sweeping DuBois for Mont Alto's first win on the 2023 campaign. Gracie Vaughn led the offensive output with 11 kills on 23 attack attempts. Elizabeth Trella and Caroline Blickley each added five kills. 

 

Kylie Denlinger provided all 25 assists for Mont Alto and Brooke Denlinger paced the defense with 23 kills. Gabby Baughman added 11 digs and Cadance Somau, Kylie Denlinger and Ashlyn Vandenbree each had eight. 

 

Shanez Morales, Caroline Blickley and Gracie Vaughn were each a part of three blocks.

 

Kent State Tuscarawas 3, Penn State Mont Alto 2 (24-26, 27-29, 25-19, 25-21, 12-15)

 

Mont Alto followed up the first match win by losing two close sets to Kent State Tuscarawas. Mont Alto battled back to take the next two sets 25-19 and 25-21 forcing a deciding set five. 

 

Kent State Tuscarawas took the fifth and decisive set by a final of 15-12 to take the non-conference matchup.

 

Gracie Vaughn recorded 21 kills on 44 attack attempts. Caroline Blickley had 12 kills on 38 attack attempts. 

 

Kylie Denlinger assisted on all 49 kills for Mont Alto and also added 21 digs in the losing effort.

 

Three Mont Alto players recorded 20+ digs: Brooke Denlinger (28), Gabby Baughman (26) and Kylie Denlinger (21). 

 

Gracie Vaughn paced the defensive effort with two solo blocks and Caroline Blickley and Elizabeth Trella each added a solo block.
