Volleyball sweeps Shenango, picks up second conference win

Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State Shenango 0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-10) 

 

Penn State Mont Alto utilized a balanced offensive effort with four players accumulating five kills or more as they swept Penn State Shenago, picking up the second conference win on the young season.

 

Mont Alto recorded 15 kills on 26 attack attempts during the first set, a 25-12 win. Mont Alto raced out to a 6-0 advantage in the first set and Shenango made things interesting, trimming the deficit to 13-10 midway through. Gracie Vaughn, Shanez Morales, Elizabeth Trella and Mackenzie Ginder all provided points for Mont Alto to push the advantage to 22-10 and forced a Shenango timeout.

 

Mont Alto took control in the second set as well going up 16-2 early, including a 7-0 run. Shenango battled back with the score 23-15 until a Shanez Morales kill and Shenango attack error put Mont Alto ahead 2-0 in sets won.

 

Mont Alto would cruise during the third set on its way to a 25-10 win, moving to 2-0 during in conference play.
