Volleyball splits tri-match

Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State York 1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-22, 25-13)

 

In a battle of top-ranked teams in the USCAA, Mont Alto got the best of Penn State York once again by winning in four sets. Gracie Vaughn (20) and Elizabeth Trella (18) led the offense in kills. Abigail Wagner also had double-digit kills with ten. 

 

Jessica Dunbar (11) and Makayla Dyson (9) paced the York offense in the losing effort. Brooke Denlinger and Cadance Somau managed the backline with 30 of the team's 67 digs. Kylie Denlinger helped in the offensive output with 54 of the team's 55 assists. 

 

Gracie Vaughn had six assisted blocks and Elizabeth Trella had three.

 

Harford C.C. 3, Penn State Mont Alto 0 (18-25, 21-25, 19-25)

 

Harford C.C. got the best of Mont Alto in a very tough non-conference matchup for the Nittany Lions, Harford won in straight sets to end the tri-match.

 

Harford compiled a .388 hitting percentage and held Mont Alto to a .175 hitting percentage.

 

Leslie Huckle and Elizabeth Trella each registered nine kills for Mont Alto. Kylie Denlinger led the team in assists with 31 and Brooke Denlinger paced the defense with ten digs.

 

Kaja Szuba 10 kills on 19 attempts (.474) and Laura Piva 12 kills on 22 attempts (.455) led the Harford attack on a very efficient match. Gianna Braxton also had eight kills on 12 total attempts.
