Mont Alto sweeps GA, wins season series

Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State Greater Allegheny (25-18, 25-21, 25-22)

 

Penn State Mont Alto faced off against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Thursday evening in its 2023 Dig Pink contest. Mont Alto got the best of GA again, this time sweeping the opposition to remain undefeated in conference play.

 

Mont Alto dominated the first set with 16 kills on 33 attempts (.364) as GA recorded 12 kills on 33 attempts (.152). In the second set, Mont Alto trailed 21-19 late and went on to rally four straight points to take a 23-21 advantage. Abigail Wagner and Elizabeth Trella each recorded kills during the rally. Mont Alto took the second set 25-21.

 

Mont Alto continued the momentum into the third set as they never trailed, finishing off GA for a season sweep of their rivals with a 25-22 third set win.

 

Leslie Huckle recorded 15 kills on 48 attempts to pace the offense. Gracie Vaughn had 12 kills on 19 attempts for a .526 hitting percentage in the match.

 

Kylie Denlinger, who was recognized pre-match for breaking the program record for assists earlier this season, dished out 44 of Mont Alto's 45 assists.

 

Brooke Denlinger was strong defensively in the win with a team-leading 18 digs.

 

Abigail Wagner led the team at the net with two solo blocks and one block assist.
