Volleyball defeats Fayette in four sets

Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State Fayette 1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-16)

 

Penn State Mont Alto volleyball traveled to Penn State Fayette on Thursday evening in a matchup amongst contenders in the PSUAC West Division. After losing a close first set by a score of 25-20, Mont Alto rallies to take the next three to sweep Fayette in the season series. 

 

Gracie Vaughn tallied a team-leading 18 kills on 34 attack attempts to improve her conference best hitting percentage. Leslie Huckle also had a strong game with eleven kills on 42 attempts.

 

Kylie Denlinger provided an assist on 38 of Mont Alto's 43 kills. She also helped in the defensive efforts with twelve digs.

 

Brooke Denlinger provided an outstanding game on defense with 42 digs, leading the match. Cadance Somau (7), Ashlyn Vandenbree (6) and Leslie Huckle (6) each helped with five or more digs.

 

Gracie Vaughn led Mont Alto with three solo blocks and two blocking assists. Abigail Wagner also had two solo blocks and two blocking assists. 

 

Up Next: Mont Alto will host Penn State Beaver on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the regular season finale. Mont Alto will honor its senior and graduate members of the volleyball team following the conclusion of the match.
