Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State Beaver 0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-17)

The Penn State Mont Alto women's volleyball team defeated Penn State Beaver in the PSUAC Volleyball Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening. Mont Alto took down Beaver in three sets, 25-14, 25-19, 25-17. With the win, Mont Alto improves to 20-8 overall and advances to the PSUAC Semifinals on Monday evening.

Following a 3-3 tie early in the set, Mont Alto never looked back in the opening frame. With the score 17-12, Mont Alto took six consecutive points and eight of the final ten to pull away in set one by a score of 25-14. Beaver would fight back in the second set, tying the match at 15-15 late. After taking three of the next five points to lead 18-17, Mont Alto pushed its lead to 23-18 and finished off the set with kills from Gracie Vaughn and Elizabeth Trella.

Beaver raced out to a 7-3 lead in set three, holding the edge in the set until Mont Alto went on a 7-0 run with the score 15-10 to go ahead 17-15. Leslie Huckle had three kills during the rally and Cadance Somau had three service aces. Beaver tied the set at 17-17 until Mont Alto reeled off the following eight points behind three service aces from Gabby Baughman and two kills from Elizabeth Trella and one from Leslie Huckle.

With the win, Mont Alto advances to the semifinals against the lowest remaining seed from the east division on Monday evening at 5 pm from Penn State's Recreation Hall.
