FAYETTVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto cross country team hosted Penn State Scranton and Penn State Fayette at its home meet this past Saturday with several runners shining in what turned out to be perfect running conditions.

There were six runners that competed in the women's 5K race at Norlo Park with Mont Alto's Macy Carper (Sunbury, Pa. / Shikellamy) pacing the field and winning the race. The freshman had a good start and distanced herself from the competitors and finished first with a time of 21:57. Finishing just under four minutes later to earn second place was teammate Emily Boozel (Huntingdon, Pa. / Mount Union Area) who finished in 25:46.

Penn State Fayette took home the team title as they were led by Mitchell Minda who finished the men's 5K race first with a recorded time of 18:16. Mont Alto's Gavin Miller (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) was the top finisher for PSUMA as he finished the race second with a time of 19:23. Both Joel Minicozzi (Hedgesville, W.Va. / Hedgesville) and Jacob Geesaman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) each improved upon their times that they had ran a week ago at Fayette's home meet. Minicozzi finished ninth with a time of 22:57 and Geesaman was just on his tail crossing the finish line at 24:07.

Mont Alto returns to action on Saturday, April 17 when they will compete at the Penn State Brandywine Invitational.
