Williams, Eckert headline USCAA Basketball Award Winners

On Sunday afternoon during the skills competition, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced its national award winners. Senior guard Cameron Williams and sophomore forward Caleb Eckert were both named First Team All-Americans while Nathan Osei was named an honorable mention.

 

 

Tevin Venson and Caleb Eckert represented the men's basketball team on the Academic All-American list. Academic All-Americans must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher during their sophomore, junior or senior seasons. 

 

Williams averaged 12.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this season. Over his last three games, he has scored 18, 19, 18 points with a season-high 19 occurring three times this season against Central Penn on 1/7, Penn State Hazleton 2/21 and Penn State Wilkes-Barre on 3/1.

 

Eckert has come on strong during his second season at Mont Alto. For the season, Eckert is averaging 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. His best outing of the season occurred at Penn State Schuylkill on 11/29 when he scored 23 points and recorded two steals.  

 

Osei was the third leading scorer for Penn State Mont Alto this season with 11.8 points per contest. Osei ranked second on the team with nearly two steals per game at 1.8.

 

Five Penn State Mont Alto women's basketball players were also named to the All-Academic team. Colette Salyers, Autumn Fischer, Aspyn Keetch, Haley Dawson and Kirsten Dell were all recognized for their work in the classroom by maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher during their sophomore, junior or senior seasons.

 

 

Penn State Mont Alto will open the men's basketball USCAA National Championships with its quarterfinal contest against the winner of Great Bay Community College and Villa Maria. The quarterfinal contest will take place at Richard Bland College Tuesday, March 14 at 6 p.m.
