Williams reaches scoring milestone, Mont Alto splits Beaver Holiday Tournament

Cincinnati-Clermont 57, Penn State Mont Alto 54

 

Caleb Eckert scored a team-high 13 points for Penn State Mont Alto as Cincinnati-Clermont won a battle amongst USCAA ranked teams by a final of 57-54. David Froege led the way for Clermont with 16 points.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Froege made two three point baskets early on as UCC built an early 8-2 lead, forcing an early timeout from Mont Alto.

-Mont Alto retook the lead with a Caleb Eckert three point basket, Mont Alto led 13-12 with 11:39 left in the first half.

-Mont Alto took a 9 point lead on back-to-back Nathan Osei, leading 29-20 with 5:26 left in the half.

-Mont Alto led 32-26 after one half of play.

-UCC tied the game at 35-35 on back-to-back free throws from Dalton Kremer.

-Cameron Williams and Dariel Rivera converted on consecutive layups to push the Mont Alto lead to eight at 50-42 with 9:02 left.

-Down 54-49, UCC scored the next six points to take a one point lead, 55-54 with :26 remaining.

-Veron Talla missed the front end of an one plus one for Mont Alto and UCC converted on late free throws to seal the victory.

 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

Following a 32-26 scoring edge in the first half, UCC held Mont Alto to just 22 second half points on 9 of 25 shooting (36%)...UCC held a 34-27 edge on the glass...Mont Alto led in bench scoring 18-7...

 

Penn State Mont Alto 71, Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo 66

Mont Alto bounced back from a loss to UCC on Friday with a 71-66 defeat of Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo. Cameron Williams scored 22 points for Mont Alto, eclipsing 1,000 for his career. He currently sits at 1,003 career points.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Saihou Mbergan and Cameron Williams combined for the first ten points for Mont Alto, taking a 10-6 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the first half.

-Bryant & Stratton went on a 11-2 run in the next five minutes of action, taking a 19-12 lead.

-Mont Alto bounced back with a 9-2 run of their own, tying the game at 21 on a Bryson Fleming layup.

-The score remained tied at the half at 33-33.

-With the score tied 51-51 in the second half, Victor Caldwell converted on a Nahshon Sylvester steal and hit a three pointer as Bryant & Stratton remained ahead by three with 12:36 left in the game.

-Mont Alto trailed 61-57 and Williams converted on consecutive layups, tying the game at 61-61 with 4:44 left.

-Down 66-65, Williams made a layup and Veron Talla converted on two free throws to push Mont Alto ahead 69-66 with a minute remaining.

-Talla made a late layup as Mont Alto defeated Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo by a final of 71-66.

Cameron Williams went 10 for 14 from the field, eclipsing 1,000 career points and also recording a season-high in points...Mont Alto's defensive efforts held Bryant & Stratton to a 37.7 shooting percentage...Mont Alto held a 39-30 edge on the glass...The game featured 16 ties and 15 lead changes...
