Penn State Mont Alto – 75, Penn State Brandywine - 63

MONT ALTO, Pa – The Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team hosted Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday night. Big games from Veron Talla and Cameron Williams drove Mont Alto to a 75-63 victory in a close conference matchup.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Cameron Williams opened the scoring for Penn State Mont Alto with a layup and helped them take an early 8-0 lead with 15:00 left in the first half.
  • A three-pointer from Brandywine's Javon Nelson brought his team back within one a few minutes later.
  • Nathan Osei was fouled on a strong layup and connected on the free throw to complete the three-point play that would give Mont Alto a six-point lead to put some space between them and Brandywine.
  • Both teams would continue to battle back and forth, but it was Brandywine that would go to halftime with the lead 26-25.
  • Mont Alto was playing behind for the first minutes of the second half until Caleb Eckert hit a big three to put Mont Alto ahead 32-30.
  • Two baskets from Cameron Williams and an additional jumper from Eckert put Mont Alto up five with 15 minutes to go.
  • Mont Alto would maintain the slim lead through most of the second half until a pair of free throws from Darrius Bush put Mont Alto up 58-48 and gave them their biggest lead of the night.
  • Mont Alto continued to push the pace and it paid off when Cameron Williams hit a jumper with 45 seconds left to put Mont Alto up 15.
  • Bryson Fleming wrapped up Mont Alto's performance with a layup with 20 seconds left and the team earned a 75-63 victory.

Johnta Dunson – 15 points, 7 rebounds
