Men's soccer loses non-conference tilt to Carlow 3-0

PITTSBURGH, Pa.- The Mont Alto men's soccer team traveled to Pittsburgh, Pa yesterday to face off against Carlow University in a USCAA non-conference soccer match at Highmark Stadium. Following a scoreless first half, Carlow scored three goals in the final 45 minutes to win 3-0.

 

IN GOAL:

W: Zac Kolich (Carlow) 2 saves, 0 goals allowed

L: Jawad Malik (Mont Alto) 7 saves, 3 goals allowed

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Carlow applied early offensive pressure rattling off a string of six consecutive shots, one saved by Jawad Malik for Mont Alto at the 19 minute mark.

-Five minutes later, Mont Alto flipped the field and gathered some shots on target by Garrett Haskell and Thomas Lane

-Carlow outshot Mont Alto 11-5 in the first half.

-Carlow took the lead and added an insurance goal in a two minute span following halftime. Eric Fowler scored on an assist by Hunter Brady. Carlow scored their second goal minutes later when Rudy Nickels scored on an assist by Konnor Sayre in the 51st minute.

-Fowler tallied his second goal of the game in the 64th minute unassisted.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Mont Alto led in corner kicks 6-5

-Carlow led in overall shots 22-9.

-Garrett Haskell paced the offensive attack for Mont Alto with two shots on goal and three total.
