PSUAC Men's Soccer Quarterfinals: Penn State Greater Allegheny 5, Penn State Mont Alto 0
WEST MIFFLIN, Pa.- Mont Alto men's soccer traveled to #1 seed Greater Allegheny on Wednesday afternoon in the PSUAC Quarterfinals. After leading 1-0 after a late goal in the first half, Greater Allegheny rallied late with four goals in the second half to advance to the semifinals with a 5-0 win. Mont Alto finished their regular season and playoffs with an overall record of 1-16 and a 1-7 mark in the PSUAC.
The playoff matchup was scoreless for most of the first half until Mason Haffa found the back of the net on a pass from Noah Carson in the 40th minute. That would be the lone tally of the half as Mont Alto was down one at the break. Greater Allegheny quickly added an insurance tally four minutes into the second half as Jermalle Leonce scored an unassisted goal at the 49 minute mark.
Leonce scored his second goal of the game on an assist from Joshua Nealey in the 81st minute. Aidan Johnson and Mckay Ross would add onto the advantage in the 85th and 89th minute respectively to finish off the contest with a 5-0 win.
Matthew Johnson picked up the win with three saves and Jawad Malik stopped 12 of his 17 shot attempts faced.
