MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto softball team earned a pair of victories over Trinity Washington University on Tuesday afternoon. PSUMA improved to 8-18 on the season after winning the first game 19-0 and the nightcap by a 24-0 score.
Penn State Mont Alto 19, Trinity Washington 0
- Katie McCauslin (Biglerville, Pa. / Biglerville) tossed a one-hitter against the Tigers for her sixth win of the season. She struck out seven of her opponents.
- Mont Alto scored 15 runs within the first inning as the team managed eight hits including a pair of two-run singles from Brooklyn Wagner (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring).
- Wagner collected five RBIs as she finished 3-for-3. Delaney Wagner (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) and Dara Murray (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) managed two hits apiece as the Nittany Lions totaled 11 hits as team.
Penn State Mont Alto 24, Trinity Washington 0
- Mont Alto starter Brooklyn Wagner (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) threw a no-hitter in three innings striking out seven Tigers along the way. She helped herself out at the plate as well with two doubles and a home run, which she blasted in the first inning.
- The Nittany Lions scored 12 runs in both the first and second innings on 17 hits.
- Every player in which swung a bat for Mont Alto collected an RBI with Wagner leading the way with four. Meagan Smith (Littlestown, Pa. / Littlestown) also plated four runs.
Mont Alto returns to action tomorrow when its takes on Penn State DuBois. Game times are slated for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
