Women's Basketball falls to Scranton

Women's Basketball was back on their home court for the first time this semester against Worthington Scranton on Thursday night.  The ladies were unable to take the win from Scranton, dropping the game 51-76.

"In our return from break we did not execute consistently enough to prevail over Worthington Scranton," Coach Paul Lundy comments.  "Overall it was a disappointing effort from the team tonight.  Our talent and teamwork shined brightly in spots (11-2 run to take an 18-16 lead and an 8-0 run to cut into their lead in the second half) but we needed to be much more consistent.  We never were able to get into a rhythm offensively and missed many shots that I felt could have gone in.  Had our shooting been more on target we could have made a game of it."

Freshman Brooke Porter (Shippensburg, PA/Shippensburg) led the team with her first double-double of the year with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Dori Kozain (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) also recorded a double-double, 10 rebounds and 10 points.  Freshman guard Megan Dougherty (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) led the team on offense with 12 points.

"We have really been challenging Brooke to contribute in the scorebook," Coach Lundy adds.  "She is consistently one of our better defenders and hustlers but in the last eight or so games she has been stepping up her rebounding and scoring.

Mont Alto is currently 5-8 overall and 3-4 in the PSUAC.  The ladies have ten games to look ahead to this season, nine against PSUAC teams and one non-conference.  Currently Mont Alto is third in the PSUAC South Division.

"For us to have any level of success this semester we are going to have to play as a team and rely on each other," Coach Lundy comments.

The ladies will be on the road to York on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game.
