Mont Alto loses to Schuylkill 68-24 in PSUAC action

How It Happened

 

First Quarter- Nadia King got Schuylkill started with a jump shot to go up 2-0 on Mont Alto. Schuylkill continued to add on as they rallied to go up 15-0 before Colette Salyers made a two-point jumper to get Mont Alto on the board with seven minutes remaining in the quarter. The first quarter was all Schuylkill as another run finished off by Serena Jones made the score 27-2 to end the period.

 

Second Quarter- Both teams struggled shooting in the second quarter with Mont Alto going 1 for 12 (8%) and Schuylkill went 5 for 17 (29%) as Schuylkill outscored Mont Alto 11-3 in the quarter. Schuylkill would go on a 10-2 run to make the score 38-5 at the half.

 

Third Quarter- With hopes to comeback going into the third quarter Penn State Schuylkill made the job tougher as Desiree Ellison started the scoring off with a three-point jumper to extend the lead 41-5. Brooklyn Merryman would answer back to make a two-point jumper in hopes to keep Mont Alto's hopes of a comeback in sight. Kyah Rucker helped the effort with a three-point jumper at the 7:33 mark. Even though Mont Alto had their highest scoring for a quarter with 12 in the third they still found themselves down 56-17 after three.

 

Fourth Quarter- Mont Alto still continued to battle to the final minute in the fourth quarter. Lilianna Galloway got her first point of the night with a free throw at the 8:55 mark in the fourth. Shanez Morales would add a two-point jumper a few possessions later with hopes to cut down the margin. 

 

Inside the Numbers- Collette Salyers led Mont Alto in scoring with seven points while also recording seven rebounds. Kyah Rucker tallied six points going 2-6 from three while recording four rebounds in the losing effort. Meagan Smith tallied four points off the bench going 2-2 from the field.

 

For Penn State Schuylkill, Desiree Ellison recorded 14 points shooting 5-8 from the field. Nadia King tallied 12 points as well. Tajae Stevenson was just shy of a double-double recording nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
