Women's Basketball loses non-conf game to Penn College 66-38
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Mont Alto women's basketball team dropped a 66-38 contest to Penn College on Tuesday evening in non-conference action. Mont Alto fell to 0-2 on the season with the loss and Penn College improved to 3-0.
Penn College was led by Breana Valentine who score 18 points on 8 of 11 shootingm she also had six rebounds and three assists. Penn State Mont Alto's leading scorer was Dariana Perez, who scored 17 points on six of 16 shooting from the field. Victoria Kalp also had a strong offensive game for the Nittany Lions, scoring 10 points on 5 of 8 shooting with two steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams started out shooting 50% or better in the opening frame as Penn College pulled ahead 17-10 after ten minutes as Gigi Parlante led the way with five points and Kenni Galbreath and Valentine each chipped in four.
- Penn College doubled Mont Alto's shot attempts in the second quarter, pulling away with a 25-4 quarter score, forcing 15 Mont Alto turnovers to lead 42-24 at the half.
- Perez scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half as Mont Alto was never able to overcome the first half deficit losing 66-38.
