MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto women's soccer team battled hard in all 90 minutes of the Penn State University Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Semifinals, but ultimately fell short to Penn State Brandywine by a 3-0 score.

Mont Alto held the No. 1 seed PSU Brandywine scoreless for the first 33-plus minutes of the match with eight saves occurring within that stretch by PSUMA goalkeeper Angel Schoonover (Woodhull, N.Y. / Jasper-Troupsburg). Brandywine drew first blood with Brianna Banks tallying her first of two goals at the 33:19 mark of the first half.

Emily Jefferson put her team up 2-0 on an unassisted effort exactly seven minutes later as Brandywine carried the lead into the halftime break.

Banks scored her second goal of the match and the insurance effort in the 60th minute. Mont Alto's best chance of scoring occurred when a Kara Newell (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) shot was saved by Emily Bush in the 65th minute.

Brandywine held a 36-3 advantage in shots with the team also placing 17 of those shots on target. Angel Schoonover (Woodhull, N.Y. / Jasper-Troupsburg) finished the match with 14 saves.

PSU Brandywine earned the right to travel to University Park on Wednesday for a title game with the No. 2 seed in the tournament, Penn State Hazleton. The match will be played on the West Campus Turf Field.

Mont Alto closes out the 2018 season with a 4-7 overall record and were 3-3 in PSUAC conference matches. The team averaged 3.10 goals per game and will look to build on their momentum into the offseason.
