Women's Soccer Preview
The Penn State Mont Alto women's soccer team will look to build off a historic finish to the 2021 campaign. Last season finished up with a conference championship and a trip to the USCAA National Tournament. The team finished 13-4 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the conference last season. Six of the starting XI return, but there are some shoes to fill.
Key Returners
Banfe will look to lead a backline that only surrendered 12 goals in 2021. She helped Penn State Mont Alto hold opponents scoreless for four straight contests during the middle part of the season. Banfe was named a 1st Team All-PSUAC team member and was also a USCAA All-American in 2021.
Zentz started in 12 of fifteen games played a season ago. Along with Banfe, Zentz helped a defense that allowed under a goal per contest (0.7).
Jones was fourth on the team in shots on goal last season with 31 attempts. She will look to be a key part of the midfield in 2022 for Head Coach Mary Miller.
Daum tied for fifth place on the team a year ago in points with ten tallying four goals and two assists. Her goals and assist totals ranking in the top five of the team.
Diehl has the most returning goals of any Penn State Mont Alto starter for the 2022 season. She scored nine goals in 2021 including a four goal performance against Penn State Brandywine in the conference semifinals.
