2023 Women's Soccer Preview
The 2023 Penn State Mont Alto Women's Soccer squad features an experienced group of returning players while bringing in some exciting new talent. This group is coming off back-to-back PSUAC Championships and hopeful to advance further into the USCAA Division II National Championship. A lot of production was lost on the backline, but Coach Miller's squad will look towards a third consecutive PSUAC title.
Key Returners:
M/D #2 Madison Eberly
Second year player Madison Eberly has set herself high expectations as a key returner to this year's squad. She was last year's leading scorer for Mont Alto with an impressive twelve goals which helped earn her PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference as well as being a 1st Team USCAA All-American last season. Eberly was also tied for second on the team in assists helping lead the strong offensive production for Mont Alto last year.
F #18 Avery Diehl
As one of the more experienced players on the team, Avery Diehl is poised to have a big year for the Blue and White. Diehl was tied for second most goals on last year's team with eight, along with having five out of the teams eight game winning goals. She posted a team-high .724 SOG percentage and 21 total SOG in conference play, showing off her accuracy. Diehl also made an appearance on the PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference squad and Second Team USCAA All-American team as well as being a USCAA Academic All-American.
M/D #10 Alexis Mariano
Second Year Alexis Mariano is returning as a prolific part of Mont Alto's offense being third on the team in goals last season adding four. Mariano started all 16 games for the 2022 team and can add a very reliable 2nd Team All-Conference presence this year as well. She was tied for second in assists in 2022 while being fourth on the team in total points.
GK #0 Kiaya Mouer
Mouer, who is entering her second year, brings an exciting defensive presence to the team. She had 86 saves last year with an astounding .754 SV%. These impressive keeper statistics earned her USCAA Second Team All-American honors.
M/D #11 Rachel Merrill
Third Year Rachel Merrill earned herself a USCAA All-American honorable mention last year. She was also fifth on the team in goals scored in 2022 and sixth in total points.
D #22 Sydney Allison
Allison totaled one goal along with three assists and five total points last season. She finished the season with PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference honors.
M/F #7 Nicole Jones
Jones logged two goals, five assists, and nine total points in 2022. She also earned a spot on the PSUAC All Conference Second Team and was a USCAA Academic All-American.
GK #8 Sophie Bowersox
Bowersox totaled one goal last season, two assists, and four total points along with a .500 SOG%. As a second year she will have more opportunity to shine.
