Mont Alto defeats fourth ranked Christendom 2-1

Penn State Mont Alto 2, Christendom 1

Seventh ranked Mont Alto traveled to Christendom to take on the fourth ranked Crusaders in non-conference action on Wednesday. Mont Alto was able to avenge an early season loss to Christendom, defeating them by a final of 2-1.

The first part of the first half went scoreless until Alexis Mariano took a pass off a free kick from Madison Eberly and beat the keeper to the far side for a 1-0 advantage in the 27th minute.

It wouldn't take long for Mont Alto to build a 2-0 lead. Upon a restart, the Crusaders failed to clear their defensive half twice as Grace Lochner found a redirected pass from Sarah Vandersleen and found the back of the net in the 34th minute.

In the second half, the Mont Alto defense would once again play a factor as they allowed just one goal to preserve the lead. Colleen Kosten scored for Christendom in the 76th minute, but Christendom would fail to find the equalizer.

The Mont Alto offense stalled in the second half with just one shot as Christendom recorded five second half shots.

Grace Lochner led the way for Mont Alto with two shots on goal. Madison Eberly, Grace Lochner and Avery Diehl had the other shots on goal.

Kiaya Mouer recorded three saves on four shots on goal for the win.
