Shawn Kissel

Shawn Kissel enters his 8th season at the helm of the Penn State Mont Alto baseball program in the 2025-26 academic year.

The Nittany Lions recently won the 2025 Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference championship with a 14-4 win over Penn State DuBois. The 2025 team also made an appearance in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series, finishing runner-up by losing to Salem University 8-3. 

The 35 wins during the 2025 season marked the program's most since the 2022 season and the Nittany Lions featured four different student-athletes who earned All-American accolades: Caiden Smith, Wyatt Kissel, James Sibert and Zach Garlin.

Prior to his appointment, Kissel has had 15 years of baseball coaching experience. He most recently co-founded and coached for the Renegades Athletic Club (RAC) of Chambersburg, Pa. for the past five seasons. While coaching within the Renegades organization, Kissel has coached at almost every age range where he trained, developed, and prepared each student-athlete for the highest level of competition. Many of his teams have participated and won several competitive tournaments throughout the east coast including the Ripken Experience, Sports at the Beach, and Perfect Game tournaments.

A native of Franklin County, Kissel graduated from Chambersburg Area High School in 1989 and went on to compete on the baseball team at Hagerstown Community College and Virginia Wesleyan, graduating from Virginia Wesleyan with a bachelor's degree in business.

Kissel resides in Chambersburg, Pa. with his wife Jennifer and their three kids.
